This session examines internationalization in practice at a Japanese national university, using Gunma University's Global Frontier Leaders (GFL) Program and related initiatives as a case study. It highlights how these programs are designed and implemented, what students learn through them, and the challenges institutions face when pursuing internationalization beyond mobility focused models.
Pramila Neupane is a professor at Gunma University and Deputy Director of the Global Initiative Center, where she leads the GFL program. She holds a PhD in International Studies from Waseda University and has over 15 years of professional experience in Japan in higher education and research.
