The event brings together two respected scholars to explore immigration in Japan and its implications for language education. Through complementary talks, the event examines how Japan's demographic landscape has evolved, how immigration has been shaped by policy and public discourse, and the role language educators can play in fostering understanding, empathy, and inclusion in the classroom.

Featuring presentations by David Iwashita (Kumamoto Gakuen University) and Olaf Fors (Kanda University of International Studies), this half-day event offers both historical context and practical, classroom-oriented perspectives for TESOL and ELT professionals working in a changing Japan.
