I can see clearly now: Finding research directions via non-judgmental discourse
Saturday, January 24th, 2015, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Speaker: Andy Boon
When coming up with research ideas by ourselves, it is easy to become lost with our thoughts. And yet, if provided with opportunities to articulate our jumbled ideas and thus give them shape, clarity, and meaning in a supportive and non-judgmental environment to a fellow peer who is willing to listen and understand them, we may begin to see things more clearly, discover new perspectives, and find a direction forward. This workshop will describe how a researcher made use of IMCD, an online framework that utilizes the Skype text chat function, to determine his focus for a research project. The audience will then be encouraged to reflect on their own pedagogic practice and utilize IMCD to determine ideas for their own research projects.
