Code-switching and Language Development of Bilingual Children
Sunday, March 17th, 2002, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Speaker: Takagi Mariko
Takagi will report a study investigating code-switching patterns of Japanese/English bilingual children in the North East of England from linguistic and psycholinguistic perspectives. The study contributes to the examination of how the children's L1 development is influenced by the contact with L2. It shows how code-switching patterns can be an indicator of the children's language dominance and L1 maintenance.
