Intuitive and Academic Teaching Ideas for Young Learners

My name is Nicky Sekino. I am a long-time English teacher. I taught the language at American universities and Japanese trade schools for 35 years. Now, I am privately teaching grade-school children. I am not using commercial textbooks for a reason. I write materials of my own. I will share two teaching ideas in the January workshop. One is intuitive teaching. You exchange short and simple words and phrases with your conversational partners as if you are doing some boxing sparring. Without theoretical details, students will understand the meanings and enjoy English conversations. The other is academic teaching. You read a textbook, listen to your teacher, and comprehend English. I will introduce both methods. Toward the workshop's end, I will introduce the videos of two Japanese men: Senator Taro Kohno, a fluent English speaker, and boxer Koki Kameda, who speaks Spanish as if it is his native language. It will be a mini class from a teacher to fellow teachers. So, feel free to give your opinions and suggestions.
