JASAL 2023 National Conference

Saturday, October 21st, 2023, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Speaker: Plenary Speaker: Daniel Hooper. Call for presentation proposals due Monday, July 31st

The Japan Association for Self-Access Learning (JASAL) is an academic association devoted to promoting self-access language learning in Japan. We aim to provide a forum for our members to disseminate knowledge and share ideas about self-access language learning, running self-access centres and developing learner autonomy. At JASAL, we offer opportunities for professional development and networking, as well as offering our members practical help and support for self-access related projects.

The Call for Papers for our national conference has begun! The conference is to be held this year at Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University on Saturday, October 21st with the theme "Fostering SALL through social connection." We're delighted to announce that this year's plenary speaker will be Daniel Hooper, who has researched and published extensively on this theme. The deadline for submissions is Monday, July 31st. (General registration will open closer to the date of the conference). We will also be offering travel bursaries for presenters without access to funding, so please see the Call for Papers on the website for more information about this.

This year we are once again planning to hold a hybrid conference, but please be aware that online presentation slots are limited.
