Successful use of online tools and effective classroom activities in academic year 2020 Like the long-running column with the same name in JALT's The Language Teacher magazine, the Nara JALT MyShare event is a popular forum for sharing successful language-learning activities and lesson plans, and a great place to pick up new ideas for the new academic year ahead. The unprecedented situation brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic saw many education institutions being forced to switch from in-class teaching to online teaching (and back again), or even a blend of both. This MyShare event will highlight four educators who will share their successes and reflections when implementing online tools or in-class activities in their teaching practices during academic year 2020.

MyShare 1: The successful implementation of a commercial online proficiency test by Jason Moser (Kanto Gakuin University)

MyShare 2: Using the app Padlet in online classrooms by Rachel Patterson (Berlitz/ Kindai University Language Center)

MyShare 3: Building learner confidence and fluency with mini-poster presentations by Paul McAleese (Nara Institute of Science and Technology)

MyShare 4: Activities to address sensitive topics: Discussing sexual harassment and assault in a gender studies class by Elisabeth Williams (Doshisha Women's College)

The event will be held live online on Zoom. JALT members from across Japan and beyond are free to join. Non-members are also welcomed (500 yen participation fee).
