Remote Teaching Tips for Young Learners

Speaker 1: Nicky Sekino
Title: Two techniques for motivating young learners

Bio: Nicky Sekino is a Japanese man who teachers English. His students are mostly Japanese adults. His specialty is teaching English for business purposes. He also recognizes the importance of teaching young learners. During the workshop, he will introduce three techniques that will motivate young learners to study English. Activity 1) B or V: A simple yet interesting activity that will help young learners pronounce "b" and "v" correctly. This activity is also good for listening to the two sounds. Activity 2) Emotion and Pronunciation: The participants will practice how to pronounce a certain dialogue with some emotion, while acting out suggested roles. The suggested roles are a) parent and child, b) boss and secretary, c) police and suspect and more. I will prepare some conversation sets for the participants to practice the above roles.

Speaker 2: Yuco Kikuchi
Title: Fun and Easy Activities for Remote Teaching Young Learners

In this online worksop Yuco will look at challenges teachers face in this difficult pandemic time and share activities she has been using for remote teaching young learners. Bio: Yuco teaches young learners and adults. She took University of Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) and obtained Bands 3 and 4 qualifications. Her interest is designing CLIL into her lessons and learners autonomy.
