Eiken and demystifying other Japanese tests; General Planning Meeting for ETJ Tokyo

Sunday, May 12th, 2019, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Speaker: Toshihito Fujinuma and Mona Kumata

ETJ Tokyo is holding its 2nd meeting of the year. Are you confused about Eiken and other standardized tests that your students take/need? Feel a bit lost on which tests matter and how to prepare your students? Want to learn which test can greatly help a student's academic career and chances of acceptance for JHS/SHS? Toshihito and Mona will lead a special 90-mintue presentation that will answer all those questions in addition to time for practice test taking. The future of English education in public schools is changing and tests are as well. Come get all your questions answered and test your own knowledge of these mystifying tests!

The remaining meeting time will be used as a general meeting for ETJ Tokyo and for anyone wanting to join the committee or offer ideas for future events. If you want to get more involved with ETJ or have ideas--please join the planning meeting.

About the presenters:

  • Toshihito Fujinuma, with his wife, Diana, is the owner of English Owl Academy in Edogawa. Before opening his schools, he lived in Toronto and the States for 13 years. He has been teaching and running his own schools for 14 years.
  • Mona Kumata runs her private classes from her home or out of community centers. She first studied for 10 years in the U.K and the States before returning to Japan and teaching privately and at hoikuen. She has been teaching for over 16 years. In particular, she tutors many JHS and SHS students for Eiken pre 1 test prep. As a parent and teacher, she has practical advice to share regarding public schools and test taking.
