Speaking More for Speaking Tests

Saturday, March 9th, 2019, 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Speaker: Joshua Myerson

Message from Joshua Myerson:

Big change to the LEARN meeting coming up. Ben Gibbon has come down with influenza and is unable to present on March 9th. That said, I am also using group speaking tests in my junior and senior high school classes so I will present in place of him on a very similar topic. Please RSVP if you are interested in attending.

New presenter: Joshua Myerson
Title: Speaking More for Speaking Tests
Description:
English education in Japan is moving into a new era where universities require applicants to demonstrate their speaking abilities as part of the admissions process. However, few instructions on how to prepare students for this change have been given. How are teachers to prepare their students for this change as well as teach their students to use English as a tool to communicate? Fortunately, there are options available. In this demo lesson-seminar, attendees will be introduced to teaching tips to get students to speak more in ways that are easily applied to their current lessons. They will also be introduced to a group speaking test that is easy to administer and that measures that ability.

My apologies for the sudden change in speakers. I do hope the fact that the content is similar will maintain your interest. And, for those who are interested in hearing Ben Gibbon present, we plan on inviting him back to speak on this topic at a future date.
