(1) Using Japanese in Class; (2) Officer Selection

Saturday, February 18th, 2017, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Speaker: ETJ Fukuoka Committee

Japanese in Class
Is a 100 per cent English-language English class possible? Exchange tips and practices for keeping students speaking and thinking in English--as well as tips for using students' native language in class. Topics for thought and discussion (feel free to bring your own, too!):

  • Is 100 per cent English achievable? Necessary? Desirable?
  • Are there instances when the students' native language should be used?
  • Using games, songs, and activities to control use of Japanese
  • When the teacher uses no Japanese
  • Bilingual team teaching
  • How to motivate students to want to use only English

Officer Selection
We'll select officers for ETJ Fukuoka positions at the meeting. We're a 100 per cent volunteer grassroots organization, so this is your chance to make ETJ even better! Positions are to be held for 1 year. Think about a position you'd like to hold or someone you'd like to nominate for a position. Positions include:

  • Coordinator
  • Scheduler
  • Topic Master
  • Promotion Chief
  • Webmaster
  • Treasurer
  • Expo Volunteers: Expo Coordinator, Recruiting for Presenters, Recruiting for Volunteers, Promotion, Venue Organizer, Venue Liason, Tech Master, Reception Head, Chef, General Volunteers

After Party:
