(1) Expatriate perceptions of entrance exams in Japan; (2) How to get published in JALT publications

Saturday, May 28th, 2016, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Speaker: Melodie Cook (University of Niigata Prefecture)

In the first presentation, Dr. Melodie Cook gives highlights from her research on expatriate university ELT faculty member perceptions of the entrance examination creation process. Themes to be discussed include test purpose, test characteristics, test creators, and ways in which change to these tests can be made.

In the second presentation, Melodie explains some of the inner workings of JALT publications and gives advice to writers wishing to publish in Proceedings, The Language Teacher, and JALT Journal. Focusing specifically on the latter, Melodie gives advice on what to do and more to the point, what NOT to do, to get published in JALT's flagship journal.
