Making Dead People Come To Life! Writing biographies for early and middle-grade readers

Saturday, April 11th, 2015, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Speaker: Patricia Lakin

Author Patricia Lakin will share slides, illustrating how she crafted the various and varied biographies she has written. Her steps include mapping out the arc of that person’s life, doing research, which often requires putting on a detective’s cap to root out little-known facts, and selecting which facts to include or discard. She’ll also share her missteps in her goal to write biographies that make the subject—though dead—come to life. Q&A will follow the presentation.
