(1) Creative homework design ideas to flip your classroom; (2) Going paperless

Saturday, January 18th, 2014, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Speaker: Robert Cochrane, Kyushu Sangyo University

1. Creative homework design ideas to flip your classroom
Homework can be a valuable tool that serves a variety of purposes: scaffolding, review, preparation, consciousness raising and grammar practice. It is often overlooked by teachers and ignored by students. In this workshop we will discuss some ways to design engaging homework activities using task-based learning and motivational design. By taking the learning out of the classroom, valuable class time can be used for more communicative activities. Topics to be covered are ideas, implementation, tools and feedback. The results of an ongoing study of factors that increase student engagement will also be presented.

2. Going paperless
Dealing with students' homework and providing feedback is an area that keeps many teachers from using homework. We will also discuss how you can take your class paperless and provide important information and support for your students. Please bring your ideas and join the discussion.
