Sunday, March 10th, 2002, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Kensaku Yoshida, Sophia University and Tom Merner, Japan College of Foreign Languages

Note: This presentation will be given in Japanese.
Please join us in Omuta for an 'on the road' Kumamoto JALT chapter event in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, for a discussion on how changes to the elementary curriculum may affect English education in secondary school. The speakers will share their knowledge and experience from working on Monbukagakusho committees to revise English education. Topics covered will include the current state of English education and teacher training in elementary schools, proposed options for elementary English education and how these changes may affect secondary English education. This presentation will be sponsored in part by STEP and should be of interest to teachers at the elementary and tertiary levels as well. The talk will be in Japanese and will be the same as the one given in Kitakyushu the previous night, but the speakers will have 90 minutes each to discuss. Everyone is welcome!
