World of Adventure-Learning with National Geographic

This presentation is somewhat similar to the presentation Changing the Way the World Learns English with National Geographic, which was presented by Kojima as part of the Okinawa JALT 31st Anniversary All-Okinawa Language Educators' Day Mini-Conference and Materials Exposition held on November 26th, 2011. The format of the presentation will be primarily demonstration with dynamic activities involving everyone's active participation and the application of critical thinking skills. Current film footage from countries world wide will be used and Kojima will demonstrate motivating methods for promoting student-centered discussion and CT skills. This presentation is geared primarily toward senior high school and university teachers and current university students. The focus is on:

  1. How to find film footage of real life situations in different countries.
  2. How to effectively utilize the materials in the language classroom to
  3. Motivate students to use English and to
  4. Promote cross-cultural understanding
