Using Corpora in the Classroom

Speaker: Laurence Anthony (Waseda University), plus others (call for proposals due June 10)

We are extremely pleased to announce that Laurence Anthony, the developer of the widely used concordance program AntConc, will be giving a workshop titled Applications of Corpus Linguistics in Language Teaching and Research. In addition, we are planning to include presentations from local teachers or researchers who would like to share their ideas of how they use corpora to help their teaching.

Call for Papers

Kyoto JALT invites proposals for presentations in the broad area of using corpora for language teaching. Possible topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Using online corpora to guide teaching and learning
  • Developing materials using corpora
  • Creating and using a pedagogical corpus
  • Creating and using corpora of learners' writing or speaking
  • Having learners use corpus tools

Please send your proposal to jaltkyoto@gmail.com with the following information:

  1. Name of presenter(s)
  2. Contact information
  3. Title of presentation
  4. Type of presentation (research paper, workshop)
  5. Preferred length of presentation
  6. An abstract of no more than 200 words

The deadline for proposals is Sunday, June 10th, 2012.
