Great Activities and Games for Children and High School Students!
Saturday, February 9th, 2002, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Speaker: Tom Kenny, Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, and Stuart Bowie, Macmillan Language House
This year more than ever before, teachers are working to introduce more and more English into their Elementary and High School classes. This seminar will help teachers rise to this challenge. With an emphasis on practical teaching techniques, activities and ideas, this workshop will be in two parts:
- multilevel games and activities
To start, a demonstration of multilevel games and activities for younger learners will be presented. The presenter will show how just a few key games can be used at a wide variety of levels, and how a well-designed curriculum gets kids and younger students learning!
- "timed conversation"
Next, author Tom Kenny will talk about how the practical speaking activity of timed conversation motivates learners to practice real social conversation and keeps them speaking English-only longer. He'll show videotapes of students using timed conversation and the essential conversation strategies that they have mastered. Find out how it all works together, and how you can do this with your High School students and young adults, with his popular conversation text, Nice Talking With You!
Also, a wide variety of
materials will be on display, with Macmillan staff members there to help you choose whatever it is that will fit your teaching situation.
