Speaker: Curtis Kelly, Heian Jogakuin University
Writing instruction has been shaped by two paradigm-shaping articles, one about the process of writing, and one about how different cultures organize their writing differently. Curtis Kelly, a professor at Heian Jogakuin University, will discuss the fascinating theories these articles spawned, and give suggestions for their application in class. So if you teach writing, reading, or you wonder why Japanese essays seems so vague, or even if you are Japanese and you want to learn how to organize your writing better, then come; there will be something for you. Kelly will also offer some suggestions on writing assignments that lead to self-discovery.
