JACET Kyushu-Okinawa Chapter and LET Kyushu-Okinawa Chapter will hold the Fall Lecture 2007 on December 22nd. The speaker of this year's lecture is Dr. Oryang Kwon from Seoul National Uversity. He will talk about the current issues and challenges of English teaching in Korea.
Lecture's title: Teaching English in Korea: Current Issues and Challenges
Abstract: Since its official introduction into the Korean formal educational system in 1883, the teaching of English has undergone both quantitative and qualitative changes. There were major changes in the 1990s that innovated and renovated the teaching of English in Korea. This lecture will review these changes and later developments in English education in Korea. The overall educational system including educational policies, curriculums, teaching methodology, testing, and teacher training will be discussed. Persistent problems and emerging issues in English education in Korea will also be discussed in the lecture.
The cost for participation is free for the members of JACET Kyushu-Okinawa Chapter and LET Kyushu-Okinawa Chapter. The fee for non-members will be 1,000 yen.
