Using Poetry in the Language Classroom: Whys and Hows

Sunday, February 25th, 2007, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Hugh Nicoll

In this presentation, we will begin with a brief exploration of reasons why we might use poetry in language classrooms. Hugh Nicholl will devote most of the time together to a demonstration of ways he has used poems in his classes. He will also share a list of poetry resources on the web, along with a brief discussion of how an arts education perspective on language may help teachers and learners become more autonomous members of their shared learning communities.
