Sixth Immediate Method Autumn Workshop

What is the Immediate Method? The Immediate Method is a conversation teaching method that was created in Japan to solve typical problems of Japanese classes. Born in the context of teaching French at university (beginner level), the method has been introduced to the world of English teaching at junior high school (beginner level) and university (intermediate level).

What is the Immediate Method Autumn Workshop? It is a one-day seminar that allows participants to be trained in the Immediate Method, and to exchange stories about their teaching experiences with colleagues. The morning is a step-by-step training in the method as a whole. In the afternoon, practitioners of the Immediate Method give short presentations about their classroom experience. Participants ask questions and contribute suggestions. The method is examined through the prism of different teaching contexts.

This year will be the sixth annual Immediate Method Autumn Workshop; the first one to take place in Tokyo. Last year, the fifth IM Autumn Workshop, held at Kyoto University, gathered 92 teachers of English, French, and Japanese as a foreign language.
