A corpus is too large to for anyone to read, but a computer can scan in a few seconds more text than you can read in your life. To make use of this you need a good retrieval tool , and the upcoming new generation of retrieval tools offers simple ways of accessing such huge and complex resources. The combination of words is of particular interest at the present time, now that computer studies have made it clear that the word is not a reliable carrier of meaning. Combinations pose a particular challenge to computational routines, and the new software is designed to search for combinations as well as single items.
The presentation will include short demonstrations of PhraseBox and Concgrams, two of the new generation software.
