Can't Get No Satisfaction?: Role Perception among Native Speaker Tertiary EFL Educators

Saturday, May 20th, 2006, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Paul Hullah

Paul Hullah will report on a 1997 survey of native-speaker EFL teachers at Japanese universities. The questionnaire explored teacher job satisfaction, and how these EFL teachers perceived their role in their respective institutions. The presenter-led discussion will consider such issues as: What activities actually/ideally comprise your job? Are your skills appropriately used in your position? Does your position meet preconceptions you had of it? How much job satisfaction do you feel? Though specifically addressing tertiary education, this presentation will interest anyone working in EFL in Japan.
