ESOL Teaching in Mind - With H.G. Widdowson

Saturday, November 19th, 2005, 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Speaker: Professor H.G. Widdowson

The purpose of the seminar is:

  • to give teachers an opportunity to explore and exchange ideas about English teaching.>
  • to encourage teachers to think critically about what they do in their classrooms.
The seminar is based on the belief that an effective teacher is a reflective teacher. Critical reflection enables teachers:
  • to take the initiative and think for themselves;
  • to design their teaching so that it is locally suited to the learners in their own classes.

This seminar is FREE, but pre-registration is required and will be available online prior to the event. Registration and Venue information: www.oupjapan.co.jp/events/esol.

About H.G. Widdowson. "Widdowson consistently defends clear-thinking and clear presentation of ideas. For international ESOL, he has probably been the most influential philosopher of the late twentieth century. " (Christopher Brumfit, Routledge Encyclopedia of Language Teaching and Learning)
