Learning about the TOEFL-iBT

This seminar introduces the TOEFL-iBT. In this seminar, the following will be covered:
- the new test format - Description of each section (Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening), sample questions;
- understanding and setting score scales, rubrics for Writing & Speaking, Speaking and Writing samples, CBT and PBT score comparisons,
- TOEFL iBT Registration, Fees, and Policies, and
- Resources and Skill Building Tips.
The Next Generation TOEFL (TOEFL-iBT) will be launched in 2006 in Japan. This new test will assess the learners' English ability particularly in conjunction with all four skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. Tasks are based on an academic environment using authentic language. It will be delivered via the internet (Internet-based Testing/iBT). Bio Megumi Kawate-Mierzejewska teaches at Temple University Japan and has provided professional services in Japan related to computer-based testing communications (e.g., TOEFL CBT) on behalf of ETS in 2000-2004.
