Teaching Seminar for Secondary School Teachers Join the British Council/Oxford University Press seminar for teachers of English at Junior and Senior High Schools. Beginners In this workshop Peter will begin by drawing attention to some of the principles underlying his resource book for teachers of beginners (Beginners, OUP). He'll then go on to illustrate some of the essential principles of teaching beginners by working with a single basic area, numbers. In particular, he'll demonstrate how it 's possible to have a lot of fun and personalize language learning even at this early stage, and how working with something as simple as numbers can lead to very rapid vocabulary learning. Peter Grundy Peter Grundy teaches at Leeds, Leicester and Northumbria Universities in UK. In a career that began in the days of student protest, he has taught in schools in UK and Germany, in initial teacher training, in higher education in UK and Hong Kong, and worked on short courses for British Council and leading language schools. He has published widely in the fields of pragmatics and language teaching methodology, and is author of several books, including Doing Pragmatics (Arnold), Beginners (OUP), Newspapers (OUP) and, with Arthur Brookes, Writing for Study Purposes (CUP) and Beginning to Write (CUP).
