A working definition of reading must include a problem-solving process. Such an approach can be initiated by each student writing one question which comes to mind while reading. By students sharing their posed problem with a partner and seeking a solution and through teacher-fronted classroom interaction, language awareness and critical thinking can be focused on and a learning community can be created.
