Implementing an Oral Proficiency Testing Program at Your School

Saturday, December 15th, 2001, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Speaker: Dean Williams

The exigencies of curricula, teaching schedules, and day-to-day institutional realities often constrain our ability to offer our students a balanced communicative program. Even innovative and energetic instruction can suffer from a lack of meaningful language "events" that rise above the level of practice, review, or pencil-and-paper tests. One interesting possibility is to establish a regular, formal oral testing regime. If properly carried out, such a program can provide the students with a chance to show what they have learned in a context that more accurately simulates what language students have to face in the real world.
Following the presentation, participants are invited to a Christmas Party.
