Autumn Course: Using video in the classroom

Friday, October 15th, 2004, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Speaker: British Council Teacher Trainers

British Council Tokyo is pleased to announce the dates for the Autumn set of courses for teachers of English in the Junior and Senior High Schools. These will follow the same format of five evening seminars, held fortnightly during the Autumn Term. They are designed to assist teachers in their day to day teaching and provide practical ideas for adopting Communicative Methodology to the Japanese Junior and Senior High school classrooms. Teachers attending all the sessions receive a British Council Certificate at the end of the course.

This course will introduce tasks to help students develop strategies for improving their listening & comprehension skills and show how video can be used as a springboard into other speaking and writing activities. We will also look at how video gives the students the opportunity to acquire vocabulary, grammar and functional language, through exposure to authentic speech and how it can give them an insight into other people's lives and raises cultural and cross-cultural issues.

Course dates: 15 October, 29 October, 12 November, 26 November, 10 December

Organization: The British Council Tokyo Centre (Tokyo British Council)

Cost: Participation in one course: 5 x 2 hour sessions, is 21,000 yen (Cost includes consumption tax)
