Speaker: Mark Landa
This workshop presents a combination of techniques for addressing ESL students' basic needs in pronunciation while engaging them as whole learners. The audience will participate in demonstrations for introducing stress, rhythm, and intonation to multilevel classes. This session introduces warm-up routines to be used prior to work on minimal pairs in a pronunciation or oral communication course. The drills are based on the assumption that learners need physical awareness and control over their vocal apparatus before drills on segmental phonemes can lead to lasting improvement in English pronunciation.
