Running a Private English Language School

The presenter will discuss the pros and cons of running an Eikaiwa school and the different ways these schools can be run. Running one's own school as opposed to taking a teaching job elsewhere, and the different teaching styles between the two will also be discussed. Finally, the presenter will talk about the financial advantages and disadvantages to life in the Eikaiwa world. About the speaker: Rod Deering holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Since the early 1990s he has been in Japan and has worked as an Assistant Language Teacher and English Teaching Consultant in Sendai, taught at a variety of eikaiwas and now owns his own eikaiwa. He is also curretly a teacher at Tohoku Gakuin and Tohoku University, Igakubu.
