Nellie's Seminar Series 2004: Seminar 4

The fourth seminar in Nellie's Seminar Series 2004 will feature three presentations as follows:

1. 13:00 - 13:50, Classic Tales - famous kid's stories and fun for your classroom!
   Presenter: Oliver Bayley (ELT Sales Manager, Oxford University Press).
   Target: Kid's Teachers (Kindergarten/ Elementary school).
   Language: English.
   Content: Stories such as "The Three Billy Goats" are well known around the world, but how can we use them effectively in our classes? Oxford is proud to present a variety of techniques and games for storytelling, as well as introduce these stories on video for you!
2. 14:20 - 15:10, Easy drama for fun learning.
   Alison Taylor (Longman ELT).
   Target: Teachers of English to children.
   Language: English.
   Content: Ali Taylor, renowned Kids Materials specialist and ELT consultant for Longman, will show you how Hip Hip Hooray can effectively make both students and teachers cheer for English.
3. 15:40 - 16:30 Start with Simple Stories and enjoy reading!
   Presenter: Akio Furukawa (SEG).
   Target: English Teachers of all levels.
   Language: Japanese.
   Content: Read 100 times as many books than ever before! Starting with very simple picture books, Akio Furukawa will familiarize you with and actually involve you in the the SSS (Start with Simple Stories) extensive reading system. Using English materials such as graded readers and children's books, the SSS reading approach follows three basic rules: don't use a dictionary, skip over anything you don't understand, and stop when you become bored. The SSS extensive reading method will allow most children to be able to read the original version of Harry Potter in roughly one year.
