Games in the English Classroom (Repeat Session) (day 3 of 5 Fridays)

Friday, May 21st, 2004, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Speaker: British Council Teacher Trainers

This short course is designed to assist teachers in their day to day teaching. It is made up of five evening seminars, held fortnightly in Tokyo during the Spring term (23 April, 7 May, 21 May, 4 June, 18 June). Teachers attending all the sessions receive a British Council Certificate at the end of the course. This seminar focuses on games. Games are a great way to get students interested in English and in these seminars we will look at how they can be used to develop different areas of English. These will include pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, accuracy and fluency. We will look at a number of game formats: board games, card games, movement games & warmers & fillers. In the final session of the mini-course, the participants will use the ideas to create games for particular lessons. Following group demonstrations, the various activities and techniques employed will be analysed and discussed.
