Teaching Japanese Through Observation, Listening, and Discovering

Sunday, October 14th, 2001, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Speaker: Cheena Fujioka

This presentation will be on teaching Japanese as a foreign language at secondary schools in the U. S. Based on the concept of Child Language Acquisition, the presenter demonstrates and describes her teaching techniques and approaches to teach 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), grammar, and the culture. Seeing is believing, so several videos of actual teaching, students' skits, speeches as well as students' projects and tests will be shown to illustrate the above. You won't believe how much Japanese they can learn in a few years without any exposure to the language outside of the class!
