Creative and Productive Testing

Saturday, October 25th, 2003, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Speaker: Mike Guest

Many people think of classroom tests in merely as a measure of student performance, something to be done in order to satisfy the administrators' demands to assign grades to students. But in fact tests can and should serve a wider educational function. Tests can and should become part of the learning and teaching process, not merely the end result of it. In this seminar, Mike Guest will outline some general theories and practicalities regarding testing. He will then go on to explain and demonstrate practical ways in which testing can stimulate and inspire students as well as contribute to greater language competence. Participants will evaluate and discuss test samples provided as well as making creative and productive samples of their own.
