Teaching Listening and Speaking: Tasks for Oral Communication

Saturday, February 8th, 2003, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Patricia Porter, San Francisco State University

Most EFL teachers recognize the need for effective classroom activities to improve their students’ oral communication skills, but they may be unsure about principles for designing and choosing such tasks. If you are such a teacher -- or if you just want new ideas for listening and speaking tasks -- then this hands-on seminar/workshop by Patricia Porter is what you need. She will focus primarily on listening for comprehension and speaking for fluency, though she will not totally ignore language accuracy.
This seminar is part of TUJ's Distinguished Lecturer Series. Note that each seminar is actually 2 days long, apx. 7 hours per day. The first three hours of each seminar are free and open to the public. To attend both days of the weekend seminar costs 10,500 yen for the general public (free for M.Ed. and Ed.D. alumni of Temple University Japan). Please see the TUJ Tokyo web site for full details.
